Cefoperazone for Injection
Sterile powder for injection IM/IV
[Indications]
Used for the following infections:
- Pneumonia and other lower respiratory infections
- Urinary tract infection
- Infection of biliary tract
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Septicemia
- Peritonitis (with combination of antianaerobic-microbacterial drug)
- Pelvic infection (with combination of antianaerobic-microbacterial drug)
[Usage and administration]
Cefoperazone may be administered intramuscularly, intravenously or intravenously guttae. For adults: the recommended dosage is 1~2g per 12 hours. In severe infections, the recommended dosage is 2~3g per 8 hours. To patients accepting hematodialysis, additional 1 dosage should be supplied. The maximum adult dosage should not more than 9g/day. But in case that patients with immune deficiency suffer severe infections, dosage should be increased to 12g/day. For children: The IV gtt. dosages should be 50~200mg/kg/day in 2~3 divided doses.
For intramuscular injection: per g of the sterile powder should be reconstituted with 2.8ml sterile water for injection and 1ml (2%) lidocaine injection, with a final concentration of 250mg/ml. For intravenous injection: per g of the sterile powder should be reconstituted with 40ml glucose and NaCl injection. For intravenously guttae: per 1~2 g of the sterile powder should be reconstituted with 100~200ml glucose and NaCl injection or other diluents, with a final concentration of 5~25mg/ml. Per g of Cefoperazone contains 1.5mmol (34mg) Na.
